We had a wonderful vacation last week. We were up in the heart of BC, at a remote lake that only fly fishermen know about called Salmon Lake. My mother and father in Law, Shirley and Phil, love to go up there every year. This year we decided to join them along with Tyler's Aunt and Uncle, Julie and Iz, and their four kids. It's on this huge cattle ranch, I think one of the biggest in Canada, and the nearest town is an hour away on a dirt road. Here are some wild ponies that we saw on the way.

Our cabins were right by the lake and had a beautiful view, Jack loved to run around in the tall grass and hide. It was great for us to be away from TV, cell phones, and computers for a whole week.
Jack went fishing with Tyler and Grandpa Phil on the first day, he even got to drive the boat. Look at this big fish he caught!

Josie had fun with Shelby and Isabelle, here she is at our cabin with her cousin Isabelle.

Here they are picking flowers with Grandma, Jack was so sweet to make me a nice bouquet.

We went in the pool the next day, Josie was unsure at first so she got warmed up on Larry the Lobster (named by aunt Julie). She eventually went in and both the kids loved it. Although Jack kept wanting to ride in Josie's baby floaty.

Whoops, I forgot our cabin keys at the pool, don't they look excited?

On Wednesday Grandpa Phil found out about a secret lake that you could hike to called Beautiful lake. We ended up doing more off-roading then hiking but it was still really nice. Here is a picture of Salmon lake on the way up.

We found this curious wooden hut with a fire pit in the middle of it, apparently it was a rustic sauna? I guess even hunters like to have spa retreats once in a while, who knew?

Here we are having our picnic, Josie was ready for more hiking.

We came back on Thursday night, just in time for band practice. Jack keeps saying "mom, I miss Salmon Lake", I think we will definitely be back!
